Sunil Gavaskar has opined that the Indian team management should look at Deepak Chahar as replacement of Bhuvneshwar Kumar as both are similar kind of bowlers and the latter is out of form. Bhuvneshwar leaked runs heavily in the series and was unable to pick a single wicket in two matches.

India recently lost the three match ODI series against South Africa by 3-0. The last fixture was a close contest as South Africa won by four runs. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has displayed a poor performance. He leaked runs heavily and was also unable to pick a single wicket in the opening overs which used to be his strength. Deepak Chahar replaced Bhuvneshwar in third ODI and performed pretty well. He picked two wickets with ball and scored a half-century. Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has said that the team management should look at Chahar as the replacement of Bhuvneshwar.

"I think it's time to look at Deepak Chahar now. He is pretty much the same bowler, can swing the ball both ways, and bats handily down the order," Gavaskar said during a discussion on Sports Today.

Bhuvneshwar conceded 64 runs in the first ODI without taking a wicket. He then leaked 67 runs from just 8 overs in the second fixture. Gavaskar opined that it is time to look at someone else as the veteran pacer is struggling to find his rhythm since a long time.

"Bhuvi has been a tremendous servant of Indian cricket. But, in the last year or so, even in franchise cricket, he has been expensive. He used to bowl those brilliant yorkers and slower deliveries, but those are not working anymore as the opposition is studying you all the time and they will know how to be prepared for it. So maybe it is time to look at somebody else," he opined.

India had also lost the Test series earlier by 1-2.
