Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. The home team put up a great bowling performance, led by Sandeep Sharma’s fifer, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 104 off 60 that sealed their seventh victory in 18.4 overs.

‌Choosing to bat first proved to be a misstep for Mumbai Indians as they saw their opener Rohit Sharma fall in the very first over. The woes compounded for Mumbai when Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav departed within the powerplay. Despite the early setbacks, Mohammad Nabi and Tilak Varma provided a glimmer of hope by accumulating 18 runs, bringing the score to 45/3 at the end of the powerplay. However, their partnership was short-lived as Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Nabi in the eighth over, reaching the milestone of 200 IPL wickets. Mumbai's batting dynamics shifted following Nabi's departure with Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera taking charge to build a brisk 68-run partnership and propelling the score to 120/4 by the 14th over. Varma notched up his half-century off 38 deliveries, while Wadhera unleashed two towering sixes off Chahal in the 16th over. Nevertheless, Trent Boult intervened and ended Wadhera's explosive innings (49 off 24) thus disrupting the 99-run partnership. Pandya's departure in the 19th over further dented Mumbai's hopes, leaving them at 170/6 in 18.2 overs. Varma's wicked in the final over, having scored a commendable 65 off 45 deliveries triggered a mini-collapse for Mumbai with Gerald Coetzee and Tim David falling subsequently. Mumbai concluded their innings at 179/9 in 20 overs, with Rajasthan's Sandeep Sharma delivering a stellar five-wicket haul, limiting the visitors below the 200-run mark.

The home team made an impressive start with star openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal guiding their side to 61/0 by the end of the powerplay. However, a rain interruption caused a 30-minute delay as covers were brought on following the powerplay. Play resumed with no overs lost and Mohammad Nabi was set to bowl the seventh over. A moment of relief for the Mumbai Indians followed when Piyush Chawla broke the 74-run opening partnership by dismissing Buttler in the eighth over. Nevertheless, runs continued to flow as Jaiswal reached a resilient half-century off 31 deliveries guiding his side to 95/1 in 10 overs. Sanju Samson and Jaiswal then built a 77-run partnership spurring their side to 151/1 after 15 overs. The southpaw was at his absolute best, reaching his century in 59 deliveries and ultimately guiding his side to a nine-wicket victory.
