Interruptions are no new in a cricket field but a pause due to a bail malfunctioning was something uncommon. Trent Boult wasted a delivery and was seen amused over a dead ball signal from the umpire as Rajasthan Royals squared off against Lucknow Super Giants in Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

Winning the toss and electing to field first seemed to yield dividends for the table toppers as Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma cleaned up Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis in the first and second over respectively. However, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda negated the RR bowling attack for a long while amidst a weird bail botch leading to the umpire signalling a dead ball.

With the scoreboard displaying 94/2 in ten overs, Boult was summoned into the attack and he came around the wicket to bowl a good length delivery into Deepak Hooda. The batter danced down the ground to miscue a lofted drive short of a diving Jos Buttler at mid-off. Soon after, the on-field umpire was the centre of attraction for everyone on the ground as he signalled a dead ball because one of the bails had fallen off the grooves between the two stumps. The cameraman spotted this ahead of the delivery but the match officials overlooked it initially. This bemused the Kiwi left-arm quick was spotted in an intense discussion with the umpire, sending the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
