Lucknow Super Giants secured a four-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Chasing a modest target of 145 runs, the home team displayed remarkable batting skills, led by Marcus Stoinis who notched up a fifty in just 39 balls leading to a thrilling last-over win.

‌Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians clashed at a packed Ekana Stadium, with the home team making an impressive start by dismissing Mumbai's star opener, Rohit Sharma, in just the second over. The pressure continued to mount for the visitors as key batters Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma fell within the powerplay. Mumbai's woes deepened when skipper Hardik Pandya departed in the sixth over, leaving them struggling at 28/4. However, Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera steadied the ship forging a crucial 46-run partnership and bringing some stability to the innings with the score reaching 73/4 in 13 overs. However, Lucknow's spin wizard Ravi Bishnoi broke the partnership by dismissing Kishan in the 14th over. Meanwhile, Wadhera and Tim David then accelerated the scoring, adding 26 runs in just 12 deliveries, propelling the score to 106/5 by the 16th over. Despite Wadhera's departure in the 18th over after a commendable 46 off 41 deliveries, David managed to unleash a six and a four in the same over. However, the momentum was short-lived as Mohammad Nabi fell in the following over, with the score at 123/7. However, David’s cameo of 35 runs off 18 deliveries propelled Mumbai Indians to a total of 144/7 at the end of 20 overs.

Substituting Quinton de Kock, Lucknow opened their batting with Arshin Kulkarni and KL Rahul. However, Arshin's time on the field was brief as Nuwan Thushara ousted him in the opening over. Nevertheless, KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis stabilized Lucknow's batting, building a 45-run alliance and pushing the score to 52/1 by the end of the powerplay. While the pair seemed poised to build a substantial partnership, Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya dismissed Rahul in the eighth over. With Stoinis and Deepak Hooda at the crease, Lucknow's scorecard read 88/2 after 11 overs. With 54 runs to chase in the final eight overs, the Lucknow team aimed for a smooth victory. Adding to the excitement, Stonis showcased his batting prowess, reaching a fifty in just 39 balls. However, as Hooda exited in the 14th over, the responsibility fell on the Australian and Nicholas Pooran to steer Lucknow to triumph. With 30 runs needed from 31 balls, Stoinis departed in the 15th over after a brilliant innings of 62 runs from 45 deliveries. But there was a surprising turn of events when Ayush Badoni was run out in the 19th over, leaving 11 runs to win from 10 balls. Nonetheless, Pooran showcased resilience, scoring 10 crucial runs in that over. Needing only three runs from the final over, the Caribbean star secured victory for his team with four balls remaining, clinching the match by four wickets. This win propelled Lucknow Super Giants from fifth to third position on the points table, establishing them as daunting contenders for the playoffs.
