While athletes are entitled to their ways of playing the sport, the gesture of holding one’s pose after playing a stroke is quite common in cricket. However, Hardik Pandya’s ruthless delivery completely embarrassed Lorcan Tucker as he intended the same in the India versus Ireland clash.

Winning the toss and electing to field first yielded sweet fruits for Indian captain Rohit Sharma as the pacers bowled brilliantly to topple the Ireland batters. With Arshdeep Singh removing the openers inside the powerplay, a semi-settled Lorcan Tucker was cleaned up by Hardik Pandya’s jaffa in the seventh over, leaving the Ireland side on the back foot.

Following their lowest-ever powerplay in T20 World Cups, the European side suffered a set back when Hardik’s good length delivery from over the wicket jagged in sharply to beat the inside edge of the batter and crash onto the stumps. Tucker failed to read the inward movement off the pitch under overcast conditions and intended a straight batted stroke behind the line, eventually seeing his downfall.

The Twitterverse closely followed this encounter and could not shy away from appreciating Hardik’s jaffa to break the stand.
