Despite this, Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilized Hyderabad's innings taking the score to 88/2 after ten overs. Just as the Australian opener seemed set for another half-century, Mumbai's Piyush Chawla struck in the 11th over, removing Head for a brisk 48 off 30 balls, providing Mumbai with a crucial breakthrough. Unfortunately, setbacks continued for SRH when Reddy departed in the 12th over, followed by Heinrich Klaasen's dismissal in the 13th over, leaving them at 101/5. Thereafter, Marco Jansen and Shahbaz Ahmed took charge of the Hyderabad batting pushing the score to 120/5 by the 15th over. However, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya showcased his bowling skills, delivering his best performance of the season (3/31)  by removing Shahbaz and Jansen in the crucial 16th over. Despite the setback, Pat Cummins' late onslaught scoring 35 runs off just 17 deliveries bolstered the Sunrisers' total to a respectable 173/8 at the end of their innings.
