However, Mumbai's dependable asset Jasprit Bumrah broke through in the sixth over, dismissing Sharma. The pressure continued to mount on the visitors as Mumbai's debutant, Anshul Kamboj scalped the wicket of Mayank Agarwal in the eighth over. Despite this, Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilized Hyderabad's innings taking the score to 88/2 after ten overs. Just as the Australian opener seemed set for another half-century, Mumbai's Piyush Chawla struck in the 11th over, removing Head for a brisk 48 off 30 balls, providing Mumbai with a crucial breakthrough. Unfortunately, setbacks continued for SRH when Reddy departed in the 12th over, followed by Heinrich Klaasen's dismissal in the 13th over, leaving them at 101/5. Thereafter, Marco Jansen and Shahbaz Ahmed took charge of the Hyderabad batting pushing the score to 120/5 by the 15th over. However, Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya showcased his bowling skills, delivering his best performance of the season (3/31)  by removing Shahbaz and Jansen in the crucial 16th over. Despite the setback, Pat Cummins' late onslaught scoring 35 runs off just 17 deliveries bolstered the Sunrisers' total to a respectable 173/8 at the end of their innings.
