Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs, securing their spot in the finals of IPL 2024. The Royals faced difficulties in their chase of 176 runs, especially in the middle order, while Shahbaz Ahmed's three-wicket haul supported by Abhishek Sharma's impressive bowling sealed their game.

‌‌Brief Scores: SRH : 175/9  [Klaasen: 50, Head: 34; Boult 4-0–45-3] beat RR: 139/7 [Jurel: 56, Jaiswal: 42; Shahbaz: 4-0-23-3]  by 36 runs
With no Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifiers, a vibrant pink and orange-clad Chepauk crowd eagerly awaited the clash of Qualifier 2. Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid immediate dividends. The Royals’ pace ace, Trent Boult unleashed havoc on the Sunrisers' top order, swiftly removing Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, and Aiden Markram within the powerplay. Despite the early setbacks, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen anchored the Hyderabad innings propelling the score to 68/2 by the end of the powerplay. Their promising 42-run partnership was cut short in the 10th over when Sandeep Sharma deceived Head with a signature slower ball. The Sunrisers' troubles deepened as Avesh Khan struck in the 14th over, dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abdul Samad, reducing them to 120/6. Klaasen showcased remarkable resilience, notching a rapid 33-ball fifty and lifting the score to 163/6 by the 18th over. However, the Royals’ bowlers sustained their dominance claiming the wickets of Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed in the death overs. Without any late heroics from skipper Pat Cummins, Hyderabad concluded their innings at 175/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Rajasthan team got off to a shaky start as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tom Kohler-Cadmore managed just 19/0 in three overs. Kohler-Cadmore's departure in the fourth over, after a dull innings of 10 runs from 16 deliveries, further dampened their spirits. However, Jaiswal shifted gears smashing a rapid 33 off just 15 balls and boosting the score to 51/1 by the end of the powerplay. Just as Jaiswal was looking dangerous, Shahbaz got the better of him, adding to Rajasthan's concerns. The worry deepened when Samson fell in the ninth over, leaving the score at 70/3. With the required run rate climbing to almost 11, the Royals needed some fireworks, hoping for Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel to ignite the chase. Unfortunately, the situation worsened for the Royals as they lost Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin in the 11th over, leaving the score at a dismal 80/5 by the 12th over. The team found themselves in dire straits when Shimron Hetmyer departed in the 14th over, followed by Rovman Powell, who could only muster six runs before walking back in the 18th over. With 52 runs needed off the final two overs, the match seemed out of reach as the Royals could only muster 139/7 by the end of the 20 overs. With a convincing 36-run victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured their spot in the IPL 2024 finals, where they will face Kolkata Knight Riders for the title on Sunday at the Chepauk.
