With a major assignment looming, the pressure in domestic tournaments intensifies, as players seize opportunities to shine. A prime example unfolded in the Sheffield Shield clash between New South Wales and South Australia, where Nathan Lyon unleashed a brilliant delivery to dismiss Travis Head.

‌New South Wales put up a solid 366, led by Sam Kontas’ impressive 152. In reply, South Australia managed only 260, with Nathan Lyon claiming a five-wicket haul. Kontas starred again in the second innings, pushing New South Wales to 282/6 before declaring. South Australia responded with centuries from Nathan McSweeny and Alex Carey, guiding them to 309/5.

A key moment in South Australia's second innings came when Nathan Lyon bowled a stunning delivery to dismiss Travis Head. In the 16th over, Lyon came around the wicket and bowled a sharp off-break. Upon landing, the ball spun sharply away from Head. The sharp turn made it difficult for Head to gauge the trajectory, and the ball deviated significantly, beating his bat as it rushed toward the stumps. The spin was so spot-on that it left Head visibly stunned, as he had anticipated the ball to stay straighter. This incident gained attention as both players prepare for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy next month.

What a Jaffa!
