Even the meritorious students of the game fail to perform to their best on seldom occasions. It was such a day for Virat Kohli in the field who spared a four while fielding at deep mid-wicket during the second innings Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s encounter against the Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru.

Electing to field first, the Titans bowlers backed captain Shubman Gill’s decision to field first by fetching three wickets inside the powerplay. Despite struggling with the bat, Liam Livingstone’s fifty, coupled with Jitesh Sharma’s 33 and Tim David’s 32, propelled the Bengaluru side to 169/7 in 20 overs. In reply, the RCB bowlers failed to penetrate the GT batting order in the second innings, despite Shubman Gill’s wicket inside the powerplay. Moreover, a fielding miss from Kohli in the twelfth over.

Krunal Pandya bowled a short of a length ball outside the stumps on the fifth ball of the twelfth over against Sudharsan. The Tamil Nadu batter rocked back and pulled it towards deep mid-wicket, where Kohli was fielding. The batter failed to judge the bounce of the white cork and incurred an injury while trying to collect it. The ball kissed his finger and breezed towards the ropes for a four. The Indian stalwart was seen grimacing in pain at the edge of the boundary ropes and even an umpire visited him to check, prompting a Twitterverse frenzy.
