Rohit, Shreyas, and Jaiswal to miss Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy clash owing to national duties
Mumbai cricketers Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will miss their State team’s upcoming clash against the Railways cricket team. They are a part of India’s ODI plans against England and will be missing due to preparatory camps for the series which starts on February 6.
Rohit and Jaiswal played a solitary game for the Mumbai side in the Ranji Trophy – their latest against Jammu and Kashmir – failing to help the side win. Like the Test series against Australia, they formed an opening pair for the particular game. While they returned with single-digit scores in the first innings, their brisk start was followed by a middle-order collapse in the second innings.
Currently, the Mumbai side have gathered 22 points from six games, having won three and lost a couple of them. They are third in the Elite A Group after Jammu and Kashmir and Baroda. Against Meghalaya, it is a do-or-die affair for the prestigious State team.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli are likely to participate in the upcoming Ranji Trophy clashes for Karnataka and Delhi. Rahul suffered an elbow niggle and missed the previous round but has been named in Karnataka’s squad against Haryana. Meanwhile, Kohli missed the previous fixture due to a neck spasm and recently practiced with Sanjay Bangar on getting his technical adjustments alright in Alibaug. Delhi are already out of Pre-quarter final contention with one win in six games, accumulating 14 points.
