Poetry in motion is often a term in cricket, revolving around bowling or batting masterclass. Virat Kohli took things to another level as the Indian stalwart took no time to join Phil Salt in a six-hitting spree by producing a carbon copy of a straight lofted stroke in the IPL 2025 curtain-raiser.

Eyeing to stamp authority in the two-month-long tourney, RCB’s ploy to field first against KKR seemed to work well when Josh Hazlewood outwitted Quinton de Kock in the first over. Unfettered by the blow, Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane’s scintillating 103-run second-wicket partnership steered KKR to 107/2 at the halfway mark before RCB pulled their socks in the second half and curbed them to 173 runs. Matching their bowling intensity with batting brilliance, RCB openers teed off the opposition bowlers with Kohli’s back-to-back sixes being the prime highlight.

Having gathered 58 runs from four overs, Kohli took down Spencer Johnson on the first couple of balls in the over. The left-arm pacer came over the wicket and bowled fuller ones outside the stumps and Kohli smoked it down the ground fine of long off. The fact that he used the bottom hand to great effectiveness added charisma to those strokes that mirrored one another, sparking Twitterverse buzz.
