After his success with the club, Leicester City are set to offer Brendan Rodgers a new contract with a lucrative extension to help kill any rumours of him leaving the club. The former Liverpool boss has worked wonders with the Foxes and transformed them into potential title contenders this season.

Former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is in talks over a new contract the Telegraph has reported with Leicester City looking to tie down the Irishman with a long-term deal. The report further added that the club had always intended to hand Rodgers a new deal but Arsenal’s interest in the former Swansea City boss has seen the club reportedly move up their timeline.

Rodgers signed a three and a half-year deal with the club when he joined in February of this year when he moved from Celtic, but the deal also contains a £4 million release/compensation clause. It’s one of the reasons why Arsenal have the Irishman as a prime candidate, alongside his past history and his managerial style, but the Telegraph has reported that the new deal will hand Rodgers a significant pay rise.

Not only that it will also include an improved release clause which should be enough to deter Arsenal and help them move on to other options. The North Londoners sacked Unai Emery earlier this month and reports indicate that they believe Rodgers is the prime candidate to replace the Spaniard. However, the Irishman is not their only candidate with the club keen on Max Allegri, Marcelino, Mikel Arteta and Mauricio Pochettino as well.
