Nathan Ake’s situation is out of our hands, confesses Eddie Howe
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that Nathan Ake’s potential move to Chelsea is out of his hands with the Blues linked with a move. The defender left Chelsea in 2017 but has a £40 million buyback clause in his contract which has caught Manchester United and Manchester City’s eye.
The 24-year-old has been one of the Cherries’ best players over the last two seasons which has seen a few Premier League sides seriously consider a move for the Dutch international. Both Manchester United and Manchester City top that list with Chelsea also heavily linked for their former star. But with reports indicating that Ake has a £40 million buyback clause in his current contract, it causes a few problems for Bournemouth.
However, manager Eddie Howe went on to admit that the situation is out of his hands despite the fact that he’d want to hold onto every player at the club. The Bournemouth boss further added that despite the clause, the club will do it’s best to keep their best players at the Vitality stadium so that they can push out of the relegation zone in the second half of the season.
“It would be obviously my wish to hold on to everybody. Some of these things are out of our control. We will wait and see. I don’t want to give you evasive answers but I am in no control of that at the moment. A lot of things with transfers trying to bring players in, trying to keep the squad we have, is out of my hands. Obviously, we will be doing our best to be as strong as we can into the second half of the season,” said Howe reported the Mirror.
