Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti is now the favourite to take over at Arsenal after Unai Emery was sacked on Friday following a dismal run of results. The club’s shambolic loss at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League proved to be the final nail in the coffin for the former PSG boss.

According to what is reported by the Telegraph, Three-time Champions League winner, and former Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti is among the candidates being considered by Arsenal as a possible long-term successor to Unai Emery. The former PSG boss was relieved of his duties at Arsenal after a horrible run of fixtures and a shoddy start to this season. Arsenal are now winless in their last 7 games with the most recent loss coming to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

Josh Kroenke and the Arsenal board made the decision with the club later announcing that Emery has been sacked and thanked him for his 18 months of service. As the Gunners will now evaluate the possible options, the decision will be made by a small group of executives at the club that includes technical director and former player Edu Gaspar and Raul Sanllehi the head of football, whose recommendation will then have to be endorsed by the Kroenke family.

Apart from Ancelloti, Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Nuno Espirito Santo, former Juventus manager Max Allegri and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino are also being discussed as possible options. The former Real Madrid coach currently manages Serie A side Napoli and is contracted until the end of the season. Sadly, for the 60-year-old, his team are struggling to make an impact on the pitch.

Ancelotti is currently caught in a war between Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and the players. His team have also not won in their last seven games in all competitions, although they have lost just one of them, his future in Naples is dicey and on the line.
