Reports | Real Madrid eyeing a move for Gabriel Jesus
La Liga leaders Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and have kept him on the radar for quite sometime now. Gabriel Jesus recently revealed his displeasure of spending majority time on the bench and not getting game-time ahead of prolific striker Sergio Aguero.
In what is a surprising report, Spanish Tabloid Don Balon says that Real Madrid wants to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. Though, the Brazilian striker’s services won’t come cheap as the Premier League champions have already slapped a huge €100 million price tag on Jesus. Jesus has made 7 City appearances and scored 4 goals in all competitions.
The Samba star recently expressed that he is tired of not being selected in the starting line up by manager Pep Guardiola. Jesus went on to add he wants more playing time in the league and UEFA Champions League. Pep Guardiola prefers Sergio Aguero over Jesus and so far Aguero’s consistency and goal-scoring record have forced Guardiola to continue with Aguero as the first-choice striker.
Real Madrid feels the 22-year-old striker is perfect to replace Karim Benzema in the long run. Los Blancos’ latest recruit Luka Jovic hasn’t pleased manager Zinedine Zidane and Zidane has been searching a capable successor to Benzema. Benzema has shown no signs of slowing down as has gone onto score 6 league goals in 7 games. It remains to be seen whether City allows Jesus to leave or try and influence him to remain at the Etihad as a successor to Aguero.
Madrid won the game against Granada in a nervy affair as they now extend their lead at the top. The Cityzens will take on Wolves at the Etihad Stadium to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool.
