Reports | Nemanja Matic on Inter Milan’s wishlist
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is reportedly wanted by Serie A side Inter during the January transfer window. The Serbian midfielder has fallen out of favour under manager Ole Gunnar Sloskjaer and finds himself deep down the pecking order making only five appearances for the club so far.
Inter Milan are ready to launch a bid for Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic who has failed to find regular minutes in the new season under Ole Gunnar Solskajer. reported the Sun. The report added that Matic is ready to quit the Red Devils but would like to stay until the end of the season as he aims to see out the remainder his contract. Newly appointed Nerazzurri manager Antonio Conte is a fan of the Serbian midfielder and is desperate to add depth in the midfield as he looks to build on the fantastic start of the campaign.
Inter and Conte feel that the ex-Chelsea star will be a much cheaper and viable option in the midfield compared to others in Europe. Stefano Sensi and Nicolo Barella have tremendously impressed and put in a hard working shift since joining Inter, but an injury to Sensi has forced Conte to rethink on his options and pursue a midfielder who can add depth.
The Sun further reported that talks between Inter and Matic’s representatives have already begun and are in the initial stages. The Serie A giants are keen to bring him to Italy in January but the 31-year-old player, who likes the idea of moving to Inter, wants to stay at Old Trafford till the end of the season and help Manchester United.
Matic’s contract is set to expire in the summer and Manchester United have discussed terms of the new contract he would be offered but its highly unlikely that the Premier League winner will sign a new deal. Reports have indicated that with the game-time he is getting the Serbian is considering a move once his contract expires.
