Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has made it clear that the club will not go after Neymar during the winter transfer window in January. Neymar was set to join his old club this summer, but the move failed to materialise and now it seems that Neymar will stay at PSG for the long term.

PSG bought Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record deal of  £222 million in the summer of 2017, who went on to score 34 league goals in his two seasons at France. However, the Brazilian's time at PSG has been plagued with injuries and the forward recently expressed his wishes to move back to La Liga. He also made his intentions known to the PSG top brass, who said that they would let him leave only if a fair deal was offered.

The La Liga giants and Paris Saint-Germain have been in talks about negotiating a deal for Neymar all summer. However, the move failed as the clubs could not agree on a deal, primarily because PSG felt that Barcelona’s offers did not match their valuation of Neymar.

However, when asked about the possibility of bringing Neymar back to Camp Nou, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu told Barcelona’s official TV channel, “No. Right now, no. Barca had already planned their squad. The opportunity to sign Neymar was one that came up in the market. His signing was an extra, it wasn't planned."
