Real Madrid are set to return to the negotiating table for Ajax star Donny van de Beek next summer, after Zinedine Zidane put a halt to a move this summer. The 22-year-old was a part of the Ajax side that stunned the world last season, flourishing both in the Champions League and the Eredivisie.

Despite chasing heavily after both Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba, Real Madrid ended the summer window without signing either player. However, with them unable to afford a move for Pogba, Zinedine Zidane still put the brakes on a move for Van de Beek and with him looking to focus all his attention on the Manchester United star.

However, the Daily Mail has reported that this will change next summer, with the Los Blancos set to return back to the negotiating table for the Ajax midfielder. The 22-year-old had a stunning season last term, flourishing both in the Champions League and the Eredivisie for Ajax. He’s continued his form well into this season, with two goals in Ajax’s six games so far.

Spanish news outlet AS further adds that postponing a move for the Dutch international will work in Real Madrid’s favour when they do re-enter negotiations with Ajax. The Dutch giants were asking for around €50 million during the summer window, but reports add that if Van de Beek continues his form, then that fee will increase even further.
