Reports | Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to sign new and lucrative three-year deal at Arsenal
According to the Athletic, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to sign a brand new three year deal with Arsenal which will make him the North London side’s highest-paid player. The 31-year-old has one year left on his current deal with the club and the striker has been linked with a move away.
After months of negotiations and speculation over his future, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is finally set to put a rest to all the rumours. The former Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan star has less than one year left on his current deal with the Gunners and that has been a cause for concern. Especially since Aubameyang has turned out to be one of the club’s leading stars. The 31-year-old finished last season as the club’s top scorer, by a large margin, with 29 goals in all competitions.
However, while his future was up in the air, the Athletic have reported that the Arsenal captain is set to put pen to paper over a new three-year deal. Aubameyang’s new deal, the report indicates, will make him the club’s highest-paid player and it does mean that the 31-year-old’s future wages will eclipse the 350,00-per-week that Mesut Ozil currently earns. The Athletic further revealed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta played a key role in convincing the striker to stay with Raul Sanllehi, alongside Edu and Huss Fahmy, negotiating the contract.
Reports have indicated, however, that the new deal for Aubameyang does mean that the Gunners are looking at deals for Alexandre Lacazette, Rob Holding and a few other players. Mikel Arteta is looking at a few more additions to his team but the club’s finances have been depleted thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and a few other issues.
