Reports | Liverpool reject Bayern Munich’s £25 million bid for Sadio Mane
According to the Times, Bayern Munich have had a £25 million bid for Sadio Mane rejected by Liverpool with the Reds looking for a higher fee to part with the 30-year-old. The Senegalese is reportedly keen on leaving and has no intention of extending his deal beyond its current 2023 expiry date.
Ever since his move to Liverpool in the summer of 2016, few expected Sadio Mane to do as well as he has with the forward playing a key role in Liverpool winning not just a Premier League title but a Champions League crown as well. However, while the Reds could have potentially had more trophies, Mane has continued to thrive alongside Mohamed Salah, contributing to 168 goals in 269 appearances.
But the forward’s time at Anfield is set to come to an end this summer as reports have indicated that the 30-year-old wants to leave the club for a new challenge. That has attracted Bayern Munich with the German giants keen on signing him but the Times has reported that Liverpool have already knocked back a bid from Bayern. The Bavarians submitted a £25 million offer, including £4 million in add-ons, last week but the deal was rejected by the Reds.
The report has further indicated that the club didn’t even entertain the offer as they believe that it is well below what they believe Sadio Mane to be worth. However, Bayern are still keen on a move for Mane and with one year left on his current contract, Mane isn’t open to signing an extension. But reports have revealed that Liverpool want a minimum of £40 million to part with Mane this summer as they believe it will be enough to fund a replacement.
