Puneri Paltan ably led by their captain Manjeet Chhillar scored an important 33-28 win over home team Jaipur Pink Panthers which helped them maintain first place in the league table of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 4.

With the first match out of the way and Bulls getting their first real taste of failure, it was now time for the second match of the night, Puneri Paltan vs Jaipur Pink Panthers. The first half was an incredible encounter, as both teams were going neck and neck but it was Pune who were leading by the 10th minute and they also inflicted an all out.

Puneri Paltan struck first as they defended well and opened up a 12-7 lead. The other player who helped the winners was the consistent raider Deepak Niwas Hooda with 9 points. He got four valuable points initially for his side with his running hand touches. He scalped rival skipper twice, very early in the tie with his flawless technique. If Deepak was all art and finesse then Ravinder Pahal's showing was all power and precision as he had the number of Rajesh Narwal, who had no answers to Pahal’s super double thigh hold.

For Jaipur Pink Panthers the inability of their captain Jasvir Singh to score no more than a solitary point was the main reason for a weak performance. Had he fired then Jaipur Pink Panthers would have definitely made a match of it as their other raider Ajay Kumar was in fine form. In fact, he was the top scorer with a tally of 11 including 4 bonus points and a super raid with 4 points. The 16-13 lead at the break was marginal but the gap widened to 20-14 in just four minutes with Deepak Hooda scoring. Then came, a recovery as Jaipur Pink Panthers clawed back to reduce the difference to 24-21.

Ajay Kumar scored 11 points in a matter of 5 raids, and he seemed to take the Panthers to victory until Manjeet did an intelligent hot pursuit and kept him out of the match. He ploughed a lone furrow for the former champions. Add to that the weakness in the defence and Jaipur Pink Panthers story of the day becomes complete.

The defensive performance of Puneri Paltan had definitely improved from the previous match as there were two high five’s from Ravinder Pahal and Manjeet Chillar. With the Pune side in full flow, Panthers had to end their home leg with a narrow loss against the Paltans.
