PKL 2019 | Sandeep Dhull has calibre to represent India going forward, believes Srinivas Reddy
Jaipur Pink Panthers coach Srinivas Reddy is of the belief that left corner defender Sandeep Dhull has the calibre to play for India in the future. After the win against Haryana Steelers on Wednesday, skipper Deepak Niwas Hooda stated that he was playing according to his strengths in the last game.
Jaipur Pink Panthers are off to a sensational start in the seventh edition of the PKL as they have registered wins in all of their first three games. They are currently at the top of the points table with a total of 15 points and one of their star performers has been Sandeep Dhull at the left corner. In their last game against Haryana Steelers, Dhull scored six points in the defence and helped Jaipur win 37-21.
Coach Srinivas Reddy is impressed with the performance of the young left corner and said that Dhull might get a chance in the Indian team soon in the future.
“I think Sandeep Dhull has the calibre to represent the country going forward. I count him among the top Left Corners in India right now. He is so young, passionate and down-to-Earth - that is a really good thing about this boy. His performance keeps improving every season. Since he was playing with Telugu Titans in Season 4, he has been delivering consistent performances and the result is for all to see today,” Reddy was quoted as saying by the PKL official website.
“Deepak Hooda is our strike raider and Sandeep carries the defence. I think the other players contributed well too. It was a team effort and I hope the team keeps delivering in this manner.”
As said by Reddy, Deepak Hooda is the star player of the Pink Panthers and he has delivered well so far in the season for the team as well. Yesterday he picked up 14 raid points out of which 13 were touches and he collected a bonus as well. After the game, Hooda has explained that he was playing according to the situation against the Steelers.
“I know what my strengths are. I was consistently trying for Bonus points between the Cover and the Corner. I had prepared them for the Running Hand Touch earlier which made them play long and made it easier for me to pick up the Bonus. I played according to the situation,” the Jaipur skipper stated.
“I think if you score well and the team is performing you automatically get energised. I feel one should always go into a match with the intention of winning no matter what and that is what helps me perform.”
