Patna Pirates coach Ram Mehar Singh has stated that things didn’t go as per Pirates’ plan in the first half of the game against U Mumba last night. The Patna coach has also added that the defenders were not able to match the performance of the raiders in their previous game on Friday.

After a win against UP Yoddha in their last home game, Patna Pirates have succumbed to yet another defeat in the ongoing seventh edition of the PKL as they were beaten by U Mumba 34-30. Patna were at the verge of inflicting an all-out towards the end of the game and winning it but were unable to do so. After the game, coach Ram Mehar Singh mentioned that things didn’t go as they had planned before.

“Things did not pan out as we had hoped in the first half. We made advanced tackles and gave up a few points. That really was the turning point,” Ram Mehar told reporters.

Pardeep Narwal and Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudlou scored six points for the three-time champions while Jang Kun Lee got three points in the raiding department. As per Ram Mehar, the defenders had a tough day at the office and that affected the team’s performance.

“The raiders did their job. Jang Kun Lee played his part. Mohammad Maghsoudlou also performed well. The defenders couldn’t match the performance of the raiders and that cost us the game,” the coach explained.

“We’ll assess the game, analyse specific areas where we could have done better, have discussions and then decide if we need to look at some of the other players in the squad.”
