PKL 2019 | The three points we gave up before half-time were extremely crucial, laments Upendra Singh
U Mumba’s assistant coach Upendra Singh has underlined the fact that the three points just at the end of the first half cost them the match against Dabang Delhi. Skipper Fazel Atrachali has mentioned that the Delhi unit is an excellent team and there was a need to be at the top of their game.
U Mumba were hammered by Dabang Delhi in their previous game in the national capital by a huge margin of 40-24. Despite starting the game on top, the Mumbai team lost their path midway and the second half was completely dominated by the team from Delhi. Mumba’s assistant coach Upendra Singh said that the points towards the end of the first affected the team and he also spoke about the ploy of sending players like Sandeep Narwal and Surinder Singh for raids.
“We started the game very well. We kept their raiders quiet. We were in control of proceedings. But when you play against a team of such high calibre, a couple of mistakes will hurt the team dearly. The three points we gave up before half-time were extremely crucial,” Upendra Singh told reporters after the game.
“It was an intentional ploy for us. It worked with Sandeep Narwal earlier, but a couple of errors cost us.”
Mumbai captain Atrachali was impressed with the performance by Joginder Narwal and co in the last game. Delhi is currently at the top of the points table and the Iranian talked about the need of being at the top of the game to beat a team like Delhi which is doing that well in the league this year.
“They are an excellent team and we need to be at the top of our game if we want to win. We have to be efficient in defence as well as offence against a side of such high calibre,” the Mumba skipper explained.
