PKL 2019 | Best 7 of Delhi leg ft.Naveen Kumar, Ravinder Pahal and Mahender Singh

Delhi proved to be a lucky city for their home team as Dabang Delhi won all 4 of their matches - becoming the first team to pull off the feat this season. We saw some brilliant matches and close finishes in the last week and so we bring you SportsCafe's team from the Delhi Leg.

Maninder Singh, Raider, Bengal Warriors

Bengal Warriors played two matches in the Delhi leg and even though they won one match and lost the other, Maninder Singh was brilliant in both games. In the first match against Haryana Steelers, which Bengal lost by 3 points, Maninder scored a solid 15 points and carried the team on his shoulders. He scored almost 50 percent of the whole team’s score and gave them a fighting chance. In the match against Tamil Thalaivas which they won by the highest single digit margin, Maninder scored 9 points. He not only was performing himself but was also giving Prapanjan equal chances in the match.

Naveen Kumar, Raider, Dabang Delhi

The list would have been incomplete if this young talent wasn’t added. He did a lot in the Delhi leg from scoring 13 points in the first match against Bengaluru Bulls in which he was struggling in the first half to the last match against Patna Pirates where he broke Pardeep’s record in the first half itself. He did very well in the entire which has seen him reach the top of the raiding charts with 130 points in 11 matches. He performed at crucial moments and helped his team get to victory especially in the U Mumba match which Delhi won by 16 points. In the first half of that match, Naveen was kept quiet and had two points to his name and in the second half he only managed to score a super ten but also inflict two all-out onto the Mumba and it was in the match he equalled Pardeep most consecutive Super Ten(8) record. In the next match, he went on against Pardeep’s team and broke that record with another Super Ten.

Vikas Kandola, Raider, Haryana Steelers

Haryana Steelers played two matches in Delhi Leg and won both of them and in both matches, Vikas Kandola emerged as a hero of the team. Even after starting late in the league, he is currently sixth on the raiding table with 76 points in 8 matches. In the first match he played in Delhi leg he scored 11 points and destroyed the oppositions defense. In the second match, he scored 8 points and played a supporting role while the other raiders of his team were performing.

Mahender Singh, Left Cover, Bengaluru Bulls

He is the top defender of his team right now with 31 points in 9 matches. With the Bengaluru Leg starting today, performing in Delhi was very crucial for Mahender Singh and he delivered for his team. Bangalore won one match and lost the other and the match that they did win Mahender played a big role in that. He scored 6 points in a match against Jaipur Pink Panthers which they won by 9 points. He was the key player because of whom Bengaluru was successful in keeping the opponent's raiders silent. He had a 75 percent strike rate in both the matches which was much better than earlier matches. So, he would hope to continue this form in the upcoming home leg as well.

Vishal Mane, Right Cover, Dabang Delhi

Vishal Mane soared to form at home that is in the Delhi Leg. He has played every match for Dabang Delhi this season but he wasn’t in any spectacular form prior to the home leg as apart from the home matches he scored 8 points in 7 matches. Where in the home leg he performed a lot better and scored 7 points in four matches. His best performance came in front of the defending champions Bengaluru Bulls as in that match he scored 3 points.

Vishal Bhardwaj, Left Corner, Telugu Titans

The defender which impressed the most in the Delhi leg as a whole was Vishal Bharadwaj. He scored a total of 13 points in two matches he played and that too with a strike rate of 114 and 100% respectively. In the match against Jaipur Pink Panthers, he executed two super tackles and it was him that made the difference between the two teams. In the second match against Puneri Paltan, he scored a high five and also executed two super tackles but it wasn’t enough to get his team the win. He would hope to continue this form as he is a key pillar of defense for the Titans.

Ravinder Pahal, Right Corner,Dabang Delhi

He announced his arrival on the most tackle points list with his brilliant performance at home. Before the home leg, he had scored 13 points in 7 matches which less for a player of his caliber but as soon his step foot in the home leg he was a different defender. He scored 21 points in 4 matches in the home leg which included two high fives. In the first home match, against Bangalore, he scored 4 points but had 4 unsuccessful tackles as well. In the next match he improved and he tackle strike went to 63 percent but it was the third match which was really special for him. He scored 8 points against U Mumba in the  third match with a 100 percent strike rate.
