PKL 2019 | Have lots of options in defence, says Joginder Narwal
Dabang Delhi skipper Joginder Narwal has said that they have a lot of options in different defensive positions that could try out if they want to change combinations. Dabang Delhi is now at the top of the points table as they have won three out of their three matches in the seventh edition of PKL.
Dabang Delhi won their third match of the season against Haryana Steelers last night. They won the match 21-41 and completely outplayed the Steelers. In their first two matches, the Dabangs won by only one point each. At no point in the match, Haryana were able to take the lead, they always seemed to be two steps behind the Delhi unit. Delhi’s raiding department was on fire as they scored a total of 22 points as compared to 16 points scored by Haryana. With a player like Saeid Gaffari contributing for the team with four tackle points yesterday, Joginder has said that the team have options in the defence.
“We have lots of options in each of our defensive positions. So, we have the option to try out different combinations, as per the coach's plans. Ghaffari did well today,” Dabang Delhi skipper Joginder said in the post-match press conference.
Most of Haryana raiding points were scored by Naveen, who is currently their main raider in the absence of Vikash Kandola. He scored nine points in raiding but it was Haryana’s defence which couldn’t perform and as a result of which they lost the match.
“I wanted to be aggressive and I looked to take the game to the opposition defence. It worked out initially. As the coach said, we made a few mistakes in defence and we lost,” Haryana raider Naveen said.
