Social activist lodges complaint against Indian cricketers for using tricolor on helmet

“It is illegal to paste tricolour on helmets. Our national pride is disrespected by that, it is shameful to note that the players are seen spitting on the ground where they also put their helmet (when not in use).

“Dhoni stopped using the tricolour but others have not. Hence, I took the matter to the cops in Mohali,” social activist Ullas was quoted as saying by Zee News.

The social activist has insisted that the Indian cricketers, like Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina, stop using the flag on their helmets before the upcoming semi-final clash against West Indies in Mumbai. A similar controversy took place back in 2005, when Sachin Tendulkar's decision to sport the flag in his helmet was questioned by the government itself. Although the BCCI supported the players on this issue, Sachin did remove the flag from his helmet before the Test series against Pakistan.
