After picking up a hamstring injury a week back, Ashish Nehra will go under the knife to treat the tendon injury in his right knee at London. The 37-year old IPL star, who plays for Sunrisers Hyderabad, will be sorely missed as they take on KKR in a must-win eliminator today.

Nehra has played for SRH this season picking 9 wickets from 8 matches, and sustained the injury during the team's match against Kings XI and had to limp off the field soon.

"Ashish Nehra has sustained a significant hamstring tendon injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15,” a report from SRH immediately had said.

He had earlier in the season missed four matches from a groin injury, but the second time has proved to be serious enough to warrant a surgery.

"BCCI medical team confirms that India medium pacer, Ashish Nehra, injured his right knee during the Indian Premier League 2016. Assessment and investigation by BCCI medical staff revealed Nehra sustained a high-grade tendon injury and was recommended to consult Dr. Andrew Williams, orthopedic specialist in London. Post consultation, Dr. Williams has advised surgery on his right knee, which will take place shortly," Indian Cricket Board secretary Ajay Shirke said in a statement, reported PTI.

Meanwhile, VVS Laxman has tweeted that Nehra has already undergone the surgery and has wished him a speedy recovery.
