Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be felicitated by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) during the third One-Day match against England at the Eden Gardens on January 23. Dhoni will be presented with a shawl and a plaque as a mark of gesture for his contribution to Indian cricket.

Dhoni stepped down from the leadership duties of the national side on January 4 but made it clear that he will be available for selection in the limited-overs squad. Dhoni, yesterday, had led India A team during the warm-up match against England but the team went down by three wickets with seven balls to spare at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. However, a packed house went home happy as the legend lit up the stadium with a late rally smashing a 40-ball 68.

As a mark of recognition of Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket, CAB has decided to felicitate him during the third and final one-day international match against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, reported IndiaToday.

Dhoni remains the only captain in the world to have won the World Cup across both the formats - winning the World T20 in 2007 and the ICC World Cup in 2011. Under him, India had won the Champions Trophy in 2013 as well. He also has the record for captaining a team in the most number of international matches - 331 games across the three formats.

Dhoni's last stint as Indian captain was against New Zealand at home in October 2016, when he led India to a 3-2 series win over the visitors.
