WATCH | Tabraiz Shamsi fined 50 percent of match fee for hissy fit in CPL final

Chasing a target of 136, Trinbago Knight Riders lost two wickets in the second over of the innings and after a short burst by Colin Munro (30), they kept losing wickets at regular occasions. By the end of the 12th over, it was anybody’s game with the Riders needing 58 runs with four wickets in hand. 

In the 13th over of the Knight Riders’ chase, Shamsi gave away just seven runs, five of them wides, and looked to have put his team in the lead. On the last ball of the over, he thought that he had gone a step further as he appealed for the leg-before wicket for Javon Searles’ wicket. The ball had pitched on leg stump and Searles, while attempting to hit the ball on the on-side had missed it completely. Shamsi appeared to be certain that the ball would go on to hit the wickets. 

However, the umpire was unmoved and gave it a not out. But this did not deter Shamsi as he kept on appealing and in his frustration went on to share a few choice words with the umpire. Even though Shamsi dismissed the batsman in his next over, a blitz from Cooper ensured that the Knight Riders secured their second title with three wickets in hand.

The spinner has been charged with a Level 2 breach of the code of conduct, which refers to showing serious dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action, and has been fined 50 percent of his match fee, as per the reports by The Indian Express.
