Gautam Gambhir losing his cool on the cricket field is not a rare sight for a regular follower of the game. More often than not the aggressive Delhi opener gets involved in ugly arguments with opposition players and even at times with the umpires which makes the gentleman’s game look a bit ugly.

Gambhir did something similar during today’s Ranji game while he was playing for his home state Delhi against Himachal Pradesh. The left-hander came out to open along with Hiten Dalal on the first day of the second round game at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi was off to a great start as the two openers added 96 runs for the opening wicket after skipper Nitish Rana had chosen to bat first.

Seeing both the openers doing well against the pacers, Himachal captain Prashant Chopra introduced slow left-armer Mayank Dagar into the bowling attack. In the 17th over, Dagar came in from over the wicket in his fifth over with the left-hander on strike with a fielder at short leg in place. He tossed it up and the ball popped up in the air for Priyanshu Khanduri, who was fielding at forward short leg, and it was a simple catch for him and he made no mistake. Umpire had no hesitation in mind and straightaway adjudged Gambhir out.

Gambhir, however, looked baffled by the umpire's decision and gave the umpire, standing at the bowling end, a good long stare.  Following that, he turned to the umpire and had a few select words for him before adding something in it for himself as well. The replays showed that there was a broad daylight between bat and pad but luckily for Himachal, Dagar had provided the much-needed breakthrough by sending a dangerous looking Gambhir back.
