VIDEO | Mohammed Siraj’s attempt to pull off Sarfaraz Khan scoop shot fails terribly as umpire signals LBW

It is always fun to see a bowler trying to do something unorthodox with the bat and succeeding at it. It is a shame that Mohammed Siraj couldn’t pull off the Sarfraz Khan scoop shot perfectly and despite asking for a review of the decision, Siraj ended up being caught plumb in front of the stump.

On a track, tailor-made for batsmen, RCB struggled big-time, as has been the case this year entirely, and after the top-order came crashing down, they were banking on their bowlers to hit a six or two to give a respectful look to the scorecard. It didn’t happen, but it can’t be said that they didn’t try. Mohammed Siraj would otherwise disagree with you.

On the last ball of the 19th over, Chris Morris pitched the ball in line and it deviated a little as Mohammed Siraj found it a perfect chance to showcase his unorthodox repertoire. The pacer attempted a cheeky scoop shot but ended up having struck on his pads instead. Delhi Capitals appealed for the wicket, to which the field umpire obliged by raising his finger. Even from the body language, Siraj looked under confident to core, but to everyone’s surprise, he went for a review.

It was a fairly easy call for the third umpire who first found no spike on the RTS and then the three reds made him stand with the on-field decision. Siraj made a slow walk back to the pavilion, maybe with the regret that he failed to pull off the scoop.
