Reports | Forearm injury scare for MS Dhoni makes him doubtful starter for Hyderabad ODI
MS Dhoni has sustained an injury during the practice session of the Indian team ahead of the first ODI of the series against Australia. After losing the T20I series, the Men in Blue will take on the Aussies in a five-match ODI series starting from tomorrow at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad.
It was a big jolt for the World Cup preparations of the Indian team as former skipper MS Dhoni is learnt to have an injury scare during the team’s net session before the first ODI in Hyderabad. As per a report by PTI, Dhoni sustained an injury on his right forearm during the session while he was taking throwdowns from support staff Raghavendra.
According to the report, the wicketkeeper had a long session ahead of the game like all other players who are expected to be in the playing XI for tomorrow’s game. The players were taking throwdowns and one of them climbed up and hit Dhoni’s forearm. As the veteran wicketkeeper was in some pain after the ball had hit him, he didn’t go on to bat as a precautionary measure.
A final call about him being a part of the playing XI for tomorrow’s ODI or not is expected to be taken later in the evening today. If the injury is serious and he is ruled out of the game, it will be Rishabh Pant who will most probably stand behind the stumps against the Aussies.
