Abhinav Bindra has formally accepted the role of goodwill ambassador for the Indian contingent at the Olympics. The news comes days after Salman Khan’s appointment as Olympic ambassador drew criticism from different spheres and the IOA decided to rope in noted sportspersons for the role.

Earlier Sachin Tendulkar and A.R.Rahman were rumoured to have been approached by the Olympic Association as confirmed by IOA vice-president, Tarlochan Singh who spoke to NDTV. India’s one and only individual gold medallist Abhinav Bindra was also approached according to the reports and he has gladly accepted the offer. The shooter tweeted that it’s a massive honour for him.

Now the fans would be waiting to see whether Sachin Tendulkar and A.R.Rahman agree to join in as well, and thus give the Salman Khan controversy a silver lining.
