Although he got a clean chit from the National Anti-Doping Agency, wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s hopes of making it to Rio is still some distance away with the WADA set to review his case. The World body confirmed on Tuesday that they have requested the case files from NADA to review the case.

Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav had heaved a sigh of relief on Monday after the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) exonerated him of the doping charges by taking into account the sabotage theory. But, the 10-day saga might not have ended with the World Anti-Doping Agency set to review his case once again before giving him the all-clear for Rio.

WADA

"We requested the case file following the decision and will review the case. We have no further comment for now," Durand told PTI in a written reply when asked whether WADA will appeal to the ad-hoc division of the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Rio de Janeiro against the decision rendered by the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel of the NADA.

WADA has the right to appeal against any of the decisions of its member countries or the Anti-Doping disciplinary panel to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) within 21 days. If WADA files an appeal against NADA’s decision to the ad-hoc division of the CAS, specifically constituted to render decisions quickly during the Olympics, then the Indian grappler may have to wait a few more days to know his fate.

Although Narsingh's fate hangs in the balance, Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is confident that none of the three organisations – International Olympic committee (IOC), United World Wrestling (UWW), and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) – will block the grappler’s Rio bid.

We have received IOA's approval today (Tuesday) to send Yadav for the Olympics."

Vinod Tomar, WFI

"We have received IOA's approval today (Tuesday) to send Yadav for the Olympics," WFI secretary Vinod Tomar told DNA.

"As for the UWW, we are awaiting their formal approval and are hopeful of getting it by Wednesday. We had sent them an email only on Monday evening, informing them about the situation. They will go through it and we should hear something back by Wednesday.

"WADA would have raised an objection only if Yadav had been given a penalty or had got away lightly. In this case, he has been given a complete clean chit by NADA. So, it shouldn't be a problem," Tomar added.
