Indian skipper Virat Kohli has reportedly been signed by MRF for over 100 crore rupees making it his second extravagant sponsorship deal of the year. Kohli became the first Indian to sign a 100 crore deal with Puma earlier this year which saw his name appearing on Forbes highest paid celebrities.

Virat Kohli was reported by the Economic Times to have renewed his contract with MRF which cost the Chennai-based company a hefty amount of over 100 crores. The Indian skipper had signed a three-year deal with the tyre company for eight crores. The Delhi batsman's manager Bunty Sajdeh, who is also the CEO of Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment, hinted about the significant increase in the right-hand batsman's sponsorship deal.

“MRF was keen on securing Kohli for a long term,” Sajdeh told the business newspaper. “Today, brands are seeing value in securing long-term deals. We also want to show loyalty and commitment to them. And Kohli has got a great rapport with MRF and the money is phenomenal.”

Earlier in the year, Kohli bagged an extravagant deal with Puma which made him the first Indian to sign a deal worth more than 100 crores and also saw his name appearing on the Forbes 100 highest paid celebrities where he was placed in the 89th position.

MRF has previously sponsored cricketing greats namely Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Steve Waugh. The company is currently sponsoring India's Shikhar Dhawan and South African skipper AB de Villiers. All the players are seen playing with MRF logo pasted to their bats.
