Cricket Australia chooses all-time India XI: Virat Kohli doesn’t get a place
After more than 50,000 votes of fans on the eve of the 500th Test for Team India, Cricket Australia has selected its all-time Indian XI, but Virat Kohli does not have a place in the team. However, with 93 % of votes, MS Dhoni has been selected as India’s greatest wicket-keeper batsman of all-time.
As India gets ready to play its 500th Test match in the nation’s history on Thursday, the dream team initiative by the BCCI has gone viral. Cricket Australia (CA), meanwhile, had started an online poll of its own to choose an all-time Indian XI.
The poll saw voters opting for more players from the 90s and early 2000s, while only Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev from the 70s and 80s have been chosen in the squad.
Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag take up the two openers slots. Voters chose Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar as their No.3 and No.4 respectively leaving no place for current skipper Virat Kohli. VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly have been selected as the best No.5 and No.6 batsmen of the country respectively.
Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan have been selected as the two pacers in the team, whereas Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh are the two spinners in the squad.
Cricket Australia’s all-time greatest team:
