Jasprit Bumrah came under huge criticism in the last ODI after he was denied the important wicket of Upul Tharanga having overstepped the popping crease yet again. The big screen in Mohali didn’t fail to remind him of it, on Wednesday, and it left the bowler with a guilty smile on his face.

Jasprit Bumrah has grown a habit of bowling no-balls while claiming important wickets in world cricket. It started with a blasphemous overstepping in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against Pakistan when the fast bowler had dismissed Fakhar Zaman in the early stages of the game before his no-ball saved the batsman, who went on to score a match-winning century.

The no-ball had created quite a stir with the Jaipur traffic police department trolling him for by using the image as a safety campaign reading, `Don't cross the line. You know it can be costly'. The player hadn’t taken it well and his complaint later even forced the police to take it down.

However, the Gujarat speedster didn’t seem to learn much from his past mistake as he was found committing a similar offence during the last ODI in Dharamsala. He got an important wicket again, of Upul Tharanga whose edge was caught in the gully by Dinesh Karthik. But, as soon as umpire Anil Chaudhary decided to go upstairs for a ‘no-ball’ check, Bumrah's joy was cut short. Sri Lanka went on to win the game by seven wickets with Tharanga scoring 49 runs.

India were in a much more stable situation on Wednesday with Sri Lanka chasing a mammoth target of 392 runs. Bumrah and Hardik Pandya had given the side an early breakthrough wickets of Danushka Gunathilaka and Tharanga. However, in the ninth over the giant screen decided to show Bumrah’s no-ball wicket from the last game and the bowler couldn’t help but smile culpably at the replays.

That replay was soon followed by Bumrah’s deliveries today, which showed the Gujarat bowler limiting his final step by more than a yard behind the popping crease.

Ravi Rampaul or Shane Shillingford? Who will take more wickets?
