Virat Kohli will definitely try to create history in South Africa, says AB de Villiers

After MS Dhoni decided to step down from captaincy back in 2014, Kohli has not only led the team with a lot of elan but also presented himself as an example whether it is about scoring runs or maintaining fitness level. This instinct is clearly shown in the team as well as they registered nine consecutive Test series wins and in the upcoming South Africa tour in January, they will look to extend the run. However, India has played most of the series on the home soil and critics believe that the team’s real strength will only be proved if Kohli continues the winning momentum in the foreign tours. AB de Villiers opined that Kohli will definitely give a challenge to them as they are just one step away from creating history. 

Currently, in the ICC Test rankings, India is on the top with 124 ratings in 40 matches and South Africa is just behind them in the second position with 111 ratings. After hosting the Indian cricket team, South Africa will play four-match Test match series against Australia and they manage to win the series against Zimbabwe, India, and Australia, they stand a chance to replace the Asian country from the top spot.

The experimental four-day Test will be played between the Proteas and Zimbabwe which will start on December 26. The right-handed batsman, who was included in South Africa’s squad for the pink-ball contest despite playing his last Test against England in January 2016, said he is ready to return to the longest format of the game. 

“I pride myself on the fact that I can adapt to certain conditions, certain formats. I’ve worked really hard at my game in the last six months. I started off at the end of July facing red balls at the University of Pretoria, getting some technical stuff sorted out and I feel more ready than ever to take it on. I have been working for the last six months to get ready for this,” he said.
