WATCH | MS Dhoni produces yet another 'lightning quick stumping' to send Angelo Mathews packing
There has hardly been a day in the ongoing series between India and Sri Lanka that didn’t see the magic of MS Dhoni – both in front and behind the stumps. In the only T20I of the tour, Dhoni decided to leave his mark on the game with a 'typical' stumping to dismiss Angelo Mathews.
Dhoni’s game awareness and understanding of a particular situation
After being asked to bat first, Sri Lanka started off really well and hit Indian bowlers for boundaries at will. Despite Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah claiming the wickets of Upul Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella respectively, Dilshan Munaweera kept tonking the Indian bowlers into submission. But with MS Dhoni behind the stumps and spinners operating, there has always been a fair chance of getting a wicket out of nowhere and he pulled off.
On the third ball of the seventh over, Yuzvendra Chahal tossed up a delivery that landed outside off stump ripped past the outside edge of Mathews’ bat. Dhoni was fully alert behind the stumps and removed the bails off in a flash as he saw Mathews’ foot on the batting crease. The third umpire, after checking the replays, ruled him out that presented India yet another “MS Dhoni special” moment.
