Justin Langer claimed that if any player from the Australian team celebrated in the same manner that Virat Kohli did, they’d be termed as ‘the worst blokes in the world’. Langer further went on to respond to Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet which criticised Australia’s defensive approach in the first Test.

Team India are in the driving seat in the ongoing first series opener against Australia at the Adelaide Cricket Ground and will hope to seal a win and start the series on a positive note. After ending the first innings at 250, the Indian bowlers put in a spirited display to restrict their opponents to a score of 235 on Day 2 and give the visitors a slight advantage heading into the last two days of the match.

Virat Kohli was an animated figure on the pitch on Friday as he celebrated the fall of the Australian batsmen with invigorating passion. Aussie head coach, Justin Langer, said he "loved seeing that passion" but felt his players would be criticised if they did the same.

"He's (Kohli) a superstar of the game and he's the captain. We've talked for as long as I can remember in Australian cricket teams that you want to keep the opposition captain down as much as possible. You love seeing that passion in sport.

"Mind you I think if we did that at the moment we'd be the worst blokes in the world. It's a fine line isn't it? That's the truth of it, but I love seeing the passion, that is great passion. But as I said there's a fine line," Langer said, reported PTI.

The Australian team were already under immense pressure ahead of the first Test match and their defensive approach towards the game drew scrutiny from various sources. One of them was the legendary Sachin Tendulkar who tweeted that, "TeamIndia should make the most of this situation and not lose their grip. The defensive mindset by the Australian batsmen at home is something I've not seen before in my experience."

However, these comments did not go down well with Langer who defended his young squad as he pointed out that things were different during the Indian batsman’s era.

"The teams that Sachin would have played against started with Allan Border and David Boon, and Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh, and Ricky Ponting.

"Guys that had great Test match experience and they knew their game, were comfortable in their own skin and they knew what to expect. Whereas we've got a team at the moment who are very inexperienced in Test match cricket, particularly our batting side," Langer added.
