BCCI has announced that the Sawai Mansingh Stadium (SMS) in Jaipur will be the home ground for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018, who return to the league after serving a two-year suspension. The Royals last played in Jaipur in 2013 before they shifted to Ahmedabad and then Pune as RCA got suspended.

On Saturday, BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary announced that the SMS is now ready to host RR’s home games coming IPL season after the suspension of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) was lifted recently.

“There were two impediments over RCA and the ground in Jaipur. Now, RCA is back into the fold. A recce has been done at the SMS and the court has ordered termination of the lease and it will now be extended till the end of the IPL. So things looks settled for Jaipur,” said Chaudhary in his opening speech at the IPL auction.

Rajasthan played there in 2013 before they were forced to shift to Ahmedabad and then Pune due to RCA’s suspension. It was followed by the verdict of the spot-fixing scandal where both Chennai Super Kings and the Royals were suspended from the league for two years.

Given the chance to retain their old players from 2015, Royals chose to stick with just Steven Smith and have gone some scintillating superstars prior to the lunch session on Saturday. The most anticipated buy of Ben Stokes was made by the Royals for 12.5 crores, before they went on to get Ajinkya Rahane and experienced all-rounder Stuart Binny for 4 crores and 50 lakhs respectively.
