India vs England | Predicted XI for the second T20I at Cardiff
After Kuldeep Yadav’s trickery made England wary about their plan against the Indian spinners, India will be at a much better headspace at the moment. And taking that confidence forward, India will try to seal the series right away so that they can give chances to youngsters in the third match.
Shikhar Dhawan: The swashbuckling Indian opener had to endure a tough start to the English tour as David Willey’s perfect yorker rattled him completely. However, the series is in England and count Dhawan off at your own peril. When he decides to open the arms, it can only be one thing - the rain of runs.
Rohit Sharma: The Indian vice-captain is just 19 runs away from becoming the second Indian after Virat Kohli to score 2000 T20I runs and it will be a good enough motivation for him to get a good start. KL Rahul: While Rahul had previously been unsuccessful at any position other than the opening, it was, however, a difficult proposition for the team management to send him at No.3. But this time, he made the century to lead India to victory and in the process put forward a huge step to bat at the position going ahead. The innings was another validation of his immense talent and England need to be wary of him.
Virat Kohli: How much the demotion in the batting order will help Virat Kohli is a discussion for another day, but as long as the Indian top-order keep on scoring, Kohli can breathe a sigh of relief. Also, he can use the opportunity to bat in the middle order and in case, India
MS Dhoni: Though MS Dhoni didn’t get a chance to bat in the last game, he continued his magic behind the stumps to get rid of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow in one over and in the process, overcame Kamran Akmal to effect highest dismissals as a wicket-keeper in T20s. Considering Cardiff is going to be batting friendly, Dhoni will be interested in carrying the momentum of the IPL to the next game.
Suresh Raina: Raina proved in Old Trafford that his IPL form was no fluke and he still has it in him to be a strong striker of the ball. To go with that, his ability to chip in with the ball keeps him in good stead and that will be the sole reason of his selection over Dinesh Karthik.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: India had a cakewalk at Old Trafford, but the only thing that might have worried them that Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the tour with an off day as his erratic lengths were easily taken by England batsmen. He ended with a figure of 4 for 45, but one bad day doesn’t make him a bad bowler. Bhuvneshwar is way better than what people saw at Old Trafford that day.
Umesh Yadav: Yadav continued his Ireland performance in Dublin as well and conceded only 21 runs in his four overs. He has become a powerful asset for the team in the powerplay and his full-length balls troubled the English batsmen last time. In the absence of Bumrah, he will again have to be at the fiery best.
Kuldeep Yadav: The combination of Kuldeep’s slow, loopy pace and unexpected direction of spin was too much for England’s middle order who have struggled against spin since the last World T20 and if the chinaman bowler continues his magic, there will be no place for hiding for England.
Yuzvendra Chahal: After a chastening first over that was hit for 16, Chahal responded brilliantly in his last three overs, conceding just 18 runs from his remaining 18 balls. Though he couldn’t pick any wickets in the match, he will still be a threat for the English team today.
