Kings XI Punjab have traded Australian all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s middle-order batsman Mandeep Singh for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League. Stoinis was retained by the Preity Zinta-owned franchise in the 2018 edition for a whopping sum of INR 6.20 Crore.

Kings XI Punjab were one of the first teams to get off to a brilliant start in this year’s IPL after they had a highly successful auction having picked up some brilliant talents in the form of KL Rahul, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Chris Gayle and Ravichandran Ashwin. But they failed to build on that initial good run of wins and couldn't make it to the play-off stage.

Now, in a bid to change things in their squad, KXIP have announced the trade of Australian all-rounder - Marcus Stoinis for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Mandeep Singh. The Aussie was sold to Bangalore-based franchise in the 2018 auctions but KXIP used their Right-To-Match card, and shed a whopping INR 6.20 crore for his services last season. It was the exact opposite for Mandeep, as RCB had outbid KXIP at the auction, and picked up the middle-order batsman for a sum of INR 1.40 Crore.

This swap has been done as part of the IPL's first trading window, which started after the conclusion of the 2018 edition and will end a month before the auction. A second window will begin for the teams after the auction is over in the early months of next year till the start of the competition in 2019.

Meanwhile, a report in the Mumbai Mirror also claimed that Mike Hesson has replaced Brad Hodge as KXIP coach. Hesson has previously served as the head coach of the New Zealand national team. Earlier, in the trade window, Mumbai Indians released Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman and Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya and added Quinton De Kock from the RCB squad to their ranks.
