It certainly doesn’t matter how good the throw is, but the cover-up fielder needs to be on the point so to effect the run-out perfectly. Today, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was well on course to collect the throw, showed brilliant anticipation after Vijay Shankar made a perfect throw from long-on.

After the dismissal of Colin de Grandhomme in the 16th over, Santner tried to get into the groove, but the Indian pacers' disciplined bowling restricted him from getting those boundaries. The bowling also pumped Indian fielders up, who were at their best today, and didn’t let the Kiwi batsman achieve any of them. The last ball of the 19th over demonstrated that beautifully.

Bhuvneshwar kept the ball on Santner’s legs and the batsman just widen his stance to guide the ball to long on where Vijay Shankar was stationed. Shankar is known to be a very good fielder and he truly managed to keep his eyes fixed on the stumps in order to effect a direct throw.

The pacer, on the other hand, was covering his throw near the non-striker’s end and extended his hand in order to collect the ball. However, when he realized that the ball was in the perfect line to hit the stumps, he didn’t disturb the momentum and instead allowed it to hit the stumps. As it turned out, it was a very good decision as Santner failed to reach the other end in time and was adjudged run-out for the same.
