T20I tri-series | We trained with the sole focus of remaining unbeaten on the tour, says Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman said that his team went through some intense training sessions with the sole motive of remaining unbeaten throughout the ongoing tri-series in Bangladesh without dropping a point. Afghanistan’s win over hosts Bangladesh yesterday made it 12 successive wins in T20Is for them.

After hammering their hosts by 243 runs in the only Test match in the tour, Afghanistan has shown complete dominance in the opening two games of the T20 series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. In the process, they not only went past their own record of 11 successive T20I wins, they now share the record of the highest number of successive wins along with Australia.

''All these training camp that we had [prior to the tour] was to have an unbeaten tour Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are very good teams. We have a very good team and unity. The T20 team is a very good team, that's why we won the 12 matches consecutively and broke the record of Australia,'' Mujeeb said, reported Cricbuzz.

Their 25-run win yesterday took them at the top of the points table, but it did not come easily. At one point, Bangladesh had reduced them to 40 for four, before Mohammad Nabi’s 54-ball 84 rescued them. Then, a concerted bowling effort, led by Mujeeb’s four-fer, wrapped up the job in a rather comfortable manner.

"We are doing well as the younger players are coming, including me, and they are supporting each other in the training and in the match as well. We are also enjoying our game apart from supporting each other and this spirit takes us to victories," Mujeeb said.

Meanwhile, there appeared to be some exchange of words between Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid Khan, but Mujeeb cleared the air regarding the issue.

"There was no problem. Rashid was just asking about the lighting. Everyone turned on their mobile light (flashlight). That's why... there was no problem,'' Mujeeb added.
