The perfect yorker is a lethal weapon in a fast bowler's arsenal, capable of breaching even the most proficient batsman's defence. Such was the scene in the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals when speedster Ishant Sharma bowled a yorker scalping Andre Russell.

‌The Visakhapatnam crowd was treated to a display of exceptional batting prowess as Kolkata Knight Riders' openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine propelled their side to 58/0 within the initial three overs. Following Salt's departure, Narine assumed the mantle of KKR's batting alongside Angkrish Raghuvanshi, orchestrating a splendid 104-run partnership and guiding their team to 164/2 in 12.2 overs. However, the Delhi Capitals found some respite by dismissing the duo in the 13th and 14th over respectively. Yet, the runs continued to flow abundantly as Kolkata's power hitters Rinku Singh and Andre Russell posed a menacing threat, propelling the score to 264/5 by the 19th over, making it the second-highest score in IPL history. However, their pursuit of surpassing Sunrisers Hyderabad's record of 277 runs was halted by Delhi's Ishant Sharma, who delivered a sublime yorker to dismiss Russell, batting at an astonishing strike rate of 215.

On the first ball of the 20th over, Ishant executed a pinpoint yorker to the 35-year-old Jamaican. Despite Russell's attempt to defend the white rock, he fell prey to the precise line and length of the yorker, resulting in the destruction of his stumps and his subsequent tumble to the ground. However upon rising from the turf, Russell acknowledged Ishant's masterful delivery with a fist bump onto his bat as he made his way back to the pavilion.

The Twitterverse swiftly reacted to the incident, taking to social media to commend Ishant's brilliance.
