Chennai Super Kings clinched a resounding victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs. The hosts faced early setbacks due to Tushar Deshpande's impressive bowling display during the powerplay after Ruturaj Gaikwad's 98, coupled with Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube's flamboyance setting up 212 runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's decision to bowl first proved fruitful as they removed Chennai Super Kings opener Ajinkya Rahane in the third over, courtesy of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell steadied the ship crafting a 32-run partnership off 20 deliveries cruising the scoreboard to 50/1 by the end of the powerplay. Gaikwad led from the front and showcased his batting abilities reaching his half-century in just 27 balls. With the duo dictating terms, the home team's scorecard flourished to 92/1 after 10 overs. As the innings progressed, the Kiwi all-rounder accelerated notching up his fifty in 29 balls, laying the foundation for a formidable total. However, Jaydev Unadkat managed to break their partnership dismissing Mitchell in the 14th over with the scorecard at 134/2. Nevertheless, Gaikwad continued his splendid form amassing 98 runs off 54 deliveries before departing on the final over and narrowly missing out on his second half-century this season. Shivam Dube's brisk 39 off 20 deliveries further bolstered the hosts' total, propelling them to a commanding 212/3 after 20 overs.

The Orange Army endured a calamitous start as they lost their top three batters within the powerplay as Chennai's pacer Tushar Deshpande claimed the crucial wickets of Travis Head, Anmolpreet Singh, and Abhishek Sharma. However, Aiden Markram and Nitish Kumar Reddy provided some solidity to the Sunrisers' innings guiding them to 53/3 after the powerplay. The duo continued to build a steady partnership contributing 32 runs and pushing the SRH scorecard to 78/4 by the 10th over. Despite their efforts, Matheesha Pathirana of Chennai delivered a pivotal breakthrough, dismissing Markram with a pinpoint yorker. Subsequently, Heinrich Klaasen and Abdul Samad formed a 32-run partnership advancing the score to 109/5 by the 15th over. However, as the pressure mounted with 105 runs required off the last five overs, concerns arose when both Klaasen and Samad departed during the slog overs leaving the scorecard in a precarious position of 119/7. With the game slipping away, even Pat Cummins couldn't make a significant impact falling cheaply after scoring just five runs off seven deliveries. Ultimately, Hyderabad faltered managing only 134 runs in 18.5 overs and conceding defeat by a margin of 78 runs. With this victory, Chennai Super Kings made a significant leap from sixth position on the points table to number three enhancing their prospects of securing a spot in the playoffs.
