Rajasthan Royals began their IPL campaign with a clinical 20-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants. The hosts scored a brilliant 194 in 10 overs with a brilliant 82 runs by Sanju Samson whereas Lucknow Super Giants couldn't capitalise during the chase despite Nicholas Pooran’s heroics.

‌In the fourth game of the league, the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants took place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Despite RR's star openers, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal failing to make significant contributions, with the former falling early in the second over, Jaiswal displayed determination during the powerplay, guiding his team to 49/2 in five overs. However, he was dismissed by Mohsin Khan in the last ball of the fifth over, just before the end of the powerplay. Nonetheless, Rajasthan's batting was anchored by skipper Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, who built a steady 40-run partnership, taking RR to 89/2 at the 10-over mark. The pair then shifted gears, adopting an aggressive approach and pushing the score to 128/2 by the 14th over. In the 15th over, Naveen-ul-Haq provided Lucknow Super Giants with a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Riyan, who scored 43 off 29 deliveries. However, Samson displayed brilliance, reaching his 21st IPL fifty off 33 deliveries and boosting the RR score to 158/4 by the 17th over. Samson continued his onslaught, striking boundaries and sixes with a remarkable strike rate of 158, guiding Rajasthan to a formidable total of 193/4 by the end of their innings with a 43-run partnership with Dhruv Jurel.

Chasing 194 runs, the Lucknow Super Giants found themselves in dire straits early on, losing Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal early, courtesy of Trent Boult's exceptional bowling. The misfortune continued for the home team as RR's recent addition, Nandre Burger, claimed the wicket of Ayush Badoni in the fourth over. With a score of 47/3 at the end of the powerplay, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda took to the crease for LSG. Despite a promising start, Hooda's resurgence after a tough last season was cut short after a brisk cameo of 26 runs off 13 deliveries, falling in the eighth over.

Meanwhile, Rahul and Nicholas Pooran steadied the ship, guiding LSG to 76/4 in 10 overs with a resilient partnership of 69 runs. Rahul reached his half-century in 35 balls, showcasing his leadership as the team's skipper. However, Sandeep Sharma returned in the 17th over and toppled the opposition skipper, exerting further pressure on LSG . Nevertheless, Pooran remained steadfast, reaching his fifty in 30 deliveries, they lost Marcu Stoinis soon with 38 runs required from the final two overs. Despite their best efforts, Rajasthan displayed exceptional bowling skills, with Sandeep conceding just 11 runs in the penultimate over and Avesh Khan delivering a brilliant last over, allowing only six runs. Ultimately, the Royals emerged victorious, triumphing over Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs. With this win, Rajasthan Royals secured their first two points on the points table.
