Asalanka to lead as Sri Lanka announces white ball squad against New Zealand
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has unveiled its squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against New Zealand on home soil. Charith Asalanka will captain the 16-member squad in both formats for the series, slated to take place later this month at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
Sri Lanka’s ODI squad includes seasoned players like Kusal Perera, and Avishka Fernando, and all-rounders Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage. Meanwhile, the T20I squad sees the return of veterans such as Dinesh Chandimal and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, alongside promising young talents like Matheesha Pathirana and Chamidu Wickramasinghe.
Sri Lanka and New Zealand last faced off in a two-match Test series in September, where Sri Lanka triumphed with a 2-0 series win. New Zealand, having travelled to India after the Test series, will enter the upcoming limited-overs encounters with momentum from their World Test Championship.
